The Essex County District Attorney’s Drug Diversion Program is a program for young adult, non-violent offenders with substance related problems. This program seeks to reduce substance misuse and improve public safety by offering treatment rather than by prosecuting people charged with low-level drug-related offenses. Individuals are assigned a Case Manager, who then helps him/her enroll for MassHealth, identify a primary care physician, access job placement services, and other services that could encourage stability and recovery. If the participant complies for at least six months, the DA’s office will either decline to prosecute or dismiss the charges.
Addiction Policy Forum is a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating addiction as a major health problem. Our national headquarters is located in Washington, DC with resources and services in every state.
